She took several golf lessons in order to develop an efficient, yet comfortable swing. As time passed, she was able to master the swing with her game, winning more than eight competitions during her highschool time. In her time as the captain of Mable Falls high school's golf team Garcia led her team to 3rd position in the 2003 regional competition and they subsequently came with a sixth-place finish in the 2006 competition. She has won more than 17 national medals and belongs to the Women's Texas Golf Association. Garcia began her golf studies at Texas Christain University, where she spent a couple of years studying before switching to University of Texas. Through the decades, her competitive streak was gaining strength. Even though the lady found joy and fulfillment as a player Angela Akin Garcia never dreamt of pursuing golf professionally instead she was drawn to journalism. In the end, when she graduated from university and landed a position as a Fox Sports Southwest journalist.
